Note for Classification of Electronic Information Products
Ministry of Information Industry, the leading government agent for the China's RoHS law: the "Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products" (Administrative Measure), has posted a note to clarify electronic information products under Section I of Article 3 of the Administrative Measure. This note lists electronic information products item by item. If a product is not listed in this note, the product is not under scope of the Administrative Measure. A catalogue (a list of regulated products) will be promulgated later.

China's RoHS Law
China promulgated its RoHS law on February 28, 2006. This law, "Administrative Measure on the Control of Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products", includes four chapters (4) and twenty seven (27) articles. The effective date is March 1, 2007. An English version of this law can be found at http://www.graspllc.com/China%20RoHS.php.
Electronic information products refers to the following products and their accessories: electronic radar products, electronic communication products, broadcast television products, computer products, household electronic products, electronic measurement instrument products, electronic products for special use, electronic component products, electronic application products, electronic material products, etc.
China compulsory certification is required for the regulated electronic information products (Article 19).
All regulated electronic information products will be listed in a catalogue (Catalogue). This Catalogue is to be formulated.
Other related information/document, such as standards, will be promulgated soon.
